Who leads the Gram Panchayat?

The Gram Panchayat is led by an elected Sarpanch (सरपंच) or chairperson. Voters elect panchayat members and the Sarpanch; the Panchayat implements local projects and manages basic services under Gram Sabha oversight.

Difference between Gram Sabha and Gram Panchayat?

Gram Sabha is the assembly of all eligible voters in the village, while Gram Panchayat is the elected executive body that carries out decisions. In answers, give an example: Gram Sabha approves a water project; Gram Panchayat executes it.
