About these notes

Class 10 Math वृत्तों से संबंधित क्षेत्रफल (Areas Related to Circles) notes explain area and length formulas, worked methods and quick tricks students need for revision. Main sub-topics: area of a circle (πr²), circumference (2πr), arc length, sector area, segment area (sector − triangle), area of quadrant/semicircle, area between concentric circles (ring) and common shaded-region patterns. Suitable for CBSE and Bihar Board Class 10 students preparing school tests, chapter test practice and board-pattern mock tests; includes important questions, MCQ and exam tips for fast revision.

Key points you will learn

  • Class 10 Math वृत्तों से संबंधित क्षेत्रफल (Areas Related to Circles) notes
  • Area of a circle: area = πr² and circumference = 2πr
  • Arc length = (θ/360) × 2πr; sector area = (θ/360) × πr²
  • Area of a segment = area of sector − area of triangle (use ½ r² sinθ when θ known)
  • Area between two concentric circles = π(R² − r²) (ring)
  • Special cases: semicircle (θ = 180°) and quadrant (θ = 90°) formulas
  • Exam tip: draw radii, mark θ, split shaded regions into sectors/triangles and add or subtract

Questions students ask

What is the formula for area of a circle?

Area of a circle = πr² and its circumference = 2πr. Use π = 22/7 or 3.14 only as directed by the question; apply correct units (cm², m²) and round off per instructions.

How to find area of a sector?

Sector area = (θ/360) × πr² where θ is the central angle in degrees. For arc length use (θ/360) × 2πr; convert degrees to radians only if a question expects radian formulas.

How to find area of a segment in circle problems?

Area of a segment = area of the corresponding sector − area of the triangle formed by the two radii and chord. Compute triangle area by ½ r² sinθ (or using base × height) and subtract from sector area.

Difference between a sector and a segment?

A sector is the region bounded by two radii and the included arc (includes the centre), while a segment is the region bounded by a chord and the arc (does not include the centre).

Where can I get important questions and MCQ for this chapter?
