Questions students ask

How to spot errors quickly?

Start by scanning verbs, auxiliaries and prepositions first — these show most errors. Then check articles, noun–verb concord and modifier placement; eliminate impossible choices and read the sentence with simple substitutions to confirm the correct part.

What is the difference between adjective and adverb?

An adjective modifies a noun (She is a careful driver); an adverb modifies a verb, adjective or another adverb (She drives carefully). Look at which word the modifier describes to choose correctly.

When do I use 'for' and 'since' with time?

Use 'for' with a duration (for five years) and 'since' with a starting point (since 2018). If the sentence gives a period without a clear start, prefer 'for'; if a start year or date is shown, use 'since'.
